Just got my bill from the oh-so-lovely AT&T and my bill has gone up for the third time in 15 months. I'm now paying $254 a month for the service. At what point do you scream STOP?! _________________ Pam Tierney

As a non-ISDN person who never felt I'd recoup the 'investment', I want to ask if you feel like you get enough business due to having ISDN to justify the costs, Pam? Just curious. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

That makes no sense at all. You're close to a major ball park where there must be several ISDN lines. I guess I'd call and ask. It's still about $65 a month in Portland and I'm near no ISDN users that I know of.

Ugh, that's awful Pam I feel your pain. Yet another reason I've hesitated to get ISDN so far here in Chicago... _________________ Adam

Pam,
Ouch! I know you don't want to hear this, but my bill did go up last year, though only about $2, so it's now $60 instead of $58. _________________ Be well,

...wondering if it's a "chicago" thing. my rate has been the same since I first signed upmphfblmblph-years ago...99 bucks a month. i would definitely be a squeaky wheel with the phone company on this one. _________________ rowell gormon

That's shocking! Are you paying for long distance? If so, cancel that STAT. You don't need it if you're not dialing out. But that still won't bring this price down to anything reasonable... _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Hi Pam-
Dan is correct in that this is most-likely an AT&T thing. I have just been handed my 4th increase in 18 months with them and because they service my area where I live I have no other options for the local service and use of the lines according to Dave Immer at Digifon. He also said to file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission of the State Attorney General's Office. Another reason for the increase and why others with ISDN are paying far less than us is whether your account is listed as Business or Residential with AT&T. With a Business account you will pay more than a Residential account but I am told AT&T does not set up Residential accounts with ISDN. Still another VO talent down the street from me is well-under $100 per month with his. I am guessing since he has had his so long it might be a Residential account. Not sure, but I started out with what I thought was a whopping $125 charge per month (not including Long Distance) and now I am at an insane price of $219 per month. It could be worse I guess. I have heard of others in rural areas pay a lot more. For me it is totally worth it, even with the price increase. But I do wonder if they will ever stop the quarterly increases. Hope this helps.

And, here where I live, AT&T doesn't want to do ISDN, and the other carrier (CenturyLink) pretends not to know what it is. So, even if I wanted ISDN, it can't be had here. It sounds like if it were available, they'd be raising rates out the wazoo for us. |

So, I ask again: For those who have it - is it worth it? Is it paying for itself? _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Scott,
Is it worth it? Last year I earned over $175,000.00 from ISDN sessions. You tell me. _________________ Be well,

Just got my ISDN bill today. Monthly total went from $168 to $207.
Is it worth it? Sh^% yes.
Does that mean that everyone should get ISDN? Sh^% no. _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)
