I have spent the better part of my evening looking over these posts, and I wanted to introduce myself.

I am number 1328 on the roster of members on this site, the newest noob you've seen, though I'm not really...

I am an older guy (44) who has always been told I have the voice for doing voice overs, I've always wanted to do voice acting, and now that I have the minimal equipment to begin - I'm diving in.

Yes, I know I will be attacked here for the minimal equipment line, but I plan on taking all of your advice (it's not an overnight sensation, take the small jobs you get, it takes time to build a portfolio, don't pick your nose, etc) and hopefully make a life out of it.

I like talking into a microphone - I'll admit it.

I look forward to getting to know you and picking your brains from time to time. I see there are several from the Atlanta area so the networking opportunities abound.

I have enjoyed reading your posts and learning your personalities (it must be nice to know that if this VO thing doesn't work out, many of you have a future in stand-uHobo Happy

Dream: Voice a TV series character
Ultra-dream: Disney voice (sigh, I just smile when I say that)

Thanks for listening, or reading as it were...

Welcome to the party! Did Leap Day inspire you to, um, you know -- get into the pool?

You will find lots and lots and lots of good advice here, and a wonderful community too.

And sometimes CAKE!

Welcome to the VO-BB! Care to share a first name with us? And I certainly won't give you any grief about the minimal equipment bit. We all have to start somewhere.

Michael - and the rest of the day be to ya, sir. I wasn't suggesting 44 was old...merely that 44 is old to begin a VO career...

Donna - Cake? I'M THERE! (sorry for the all caps, DB...it was for emphasis)

Bob, I am Karl. (I changed my siggy to reflect this) Thanks for the no grief!

Welcome!

A few things you should know -- cake is important, as you've noticed. Don't give any to the llama. Make sure Liz has coffee. We don't eat watercress before Memorial Day. Chocolate is the national food here.

Did I forget anything?

Hi Karl. There are only a few rules... Kristin mentioned not getting Todd wet, and others have mentions the various flora and fauna of the site. The biggest rule is that you should never upset the girls... ever!. But, if you do, chocolate is the great healer.

... and if it makes you feel any better, I didn't start until my fifties! (oh rats, the girls don't think I'm that old... I'm busted now)

Cheers
Peter

Hey Karl. Welcome in! There's nothing wrong with dreams..that's how we all ended up doing this. Oh, and it's not so much the gear you use...it's what you can do with it.

Enjoy the ride.

Oh, and welcome!

Oh cool! Kate and I are heading that way in mid to late August. Savannah bound...but we're planning to fly into Hot-lanta to say Hi to some clients.

A hookup would be awesome. Biking in that heat Scott....maybe not yet.
Gotta build myself up to that one.

Ok, don't upset the girls, no cake to the llama (bad llama), get Liz coffee, No watercress until Memorial Day, Todd can't get wet, no food for anyone after midnight.

Just in case, here is some pre-emptive chocolate...
