Since expanding and "coming into my own", if you will - I've had the frustrating feeling that my current website does not reflect ME - the real ME. The approach I took was all about "THE VOICE!" and it was a reflection of taking myself too seriously.
I've been working on a new design that's fun, fresh, and true to who I am. Plus I want it to incorporate all of the aspects of what I'm doing now (writing, commercial auditions, etc.).
NEway - the icons will be different for the navigation (I took these icons from a template I have), but the overall scheme will be the same. Hope you like it... and if you don't, then you're not nice
HERE YA GO
g'nite

Yep.
Orange field with a little blue question mark in the center and Yeah Man! the favicon rocks serious address bar.
You need to make sure your links are updated to reflect the filepath of the website ONLINE. Right now, you have it still referring to your computer's hierarchy.

doh - what an amateur (SDK?). For some reason I forgot to create a "Site" in Dreamweaver and just used the files where they were so it never updated the links/image source.
Try again.
oh and thanks for the favicon. There's a shareware plugin for photoshop that let's you create those things - you avoid having to use the overpriced and unreliable favicon proggies out there.

I downloaded it a while ago, but it's by a company/person that goes by Telegraphics.
Google 'em and you should hvae no problem getting it.
It's free (Open Source - so it's not crackware).

Nice, clean, simple and effective.
I've got to get off my rear and learn web design too.
Nice work Anthony. |
I learned some of the design elements (like contrast, proximity, repetition, alignment, color schemes, etc.) when I was studying architecture (5 years) so at least all of that tuition didn't go to waste. LOL

Anthony, man, that looks fantastic! You're making me want to overhaul my site now From someone who does a little photography for fun, that pic of you just rocks. That is the REAL Anthony. Kudos to whomever shot it.
I'll have to get that favicon plugin for PS too. Thanks for the tip! |

Anthony... very clean site... uncluttered... but...
The only attraction that identifies the fact that you are into voice overs is one small icon. I guess I'm looking for a larger attraction that will catch my eye. (I hope that makes sense.) I really do enjoy sites that are easy to maneuver through and don't confuse the visitor. Maybe I'm just looking for a big honking microphone in the background... I know it has been way overused, but for me, some kind of vocal related graphics would tie things together.
I hope I'm not being too honest. (That being said, now others can pounce on me.)

Thanks, db
@Allen: man, don't re-design your site unless you REALLY, REALLY have to and then make sure you HAVE to LOL It's a real pain getting some of the old stuff over - plus, since I'm not really a programmer, it takes me forever to code and edit code for sound in Flash. YUCK.
btw - the photographer is Kenny Pang here in NYC. He's great to work with.

Honesty is always the best. You make some points that I considered when I first started, but working and training in this NY market more and more, I started to realize that I'm an actor FIRST with voice-overs as one of my services, but not THE only service.
I don't do any business anymore from people that find me online. Most of what I get is now from agents, casting directors, self-submission to same, production companies, and networking face-to-face. I started to get more attention after training as an actor and showing my face around... heck even some on-camera commercial opportunities were thrown my way. They don't want a just a "voice-over" here in NY - they want an actor who can do voice-over, but who can also do other things as well. Frequently they'll audition stand-up comics who do voice-overs.
Finally, personality counts for a whole bunch and the typical "microphone" in the logo, dark background, ominous "hi, this is ME! WELCOME" came across as someone who takes themselves too seriously - and I know I don't... not anymore anyway LOL. No offense to those who it works for (it worked for me for about 1 year).
It's weird, but I'm just going with the flow. I guess when it feels right it feels right, and right now it feels right. That might change next year, but I'm trusting my instict on this one.

Sounds like a good direction to be going in living in NY....think, when you rock the on-camera gigs and become well known, the voice stuff will fall into place with some big dollar signs. _________________ Ben
