This FaffCon was the best one yet business-wise for me.
I met several very good prospects for work, as well as a bunch of new VO peeps who have expanded my Foreign language resources page.
Oh...yeah....and I just booked a job with a new client based on the recommendation of a first-time VO Faffer.
TOTALLY worth the trip!

Even if I book nothing as a result of what I learned at Faffcon, it would still have been worth it just to finally get to meet some of the people I've previously known only from our online contact -- Bobbin Beam, JS Gilbert, Karen Lehman, Scott Nilsen, to name just a few -- not to mention getting another chance to hang out with so many of the people who make this little corner of the interwebs the great family that it is. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I've already booked work thanks to FaffCon and what I took away from this one was more esoteric than the first one I attended, but more valuable for that.
My favorite part was seeing everyone again and I'll be honest- I get a little choked up when I remember how happy everyone was to see me. That's a rare and precious thing and I love it. _________________ Corey "Vox Man" Snow

What Lee said;

Too many to list! Meeting, getting reacquainted, cementing friendships - just great...
When I mentioned that I was taxiing JS there - and back - I couldn't decide if I was getting looks of envy or pity. ;o) I can report that the trip (about 6.5 hours each way) seemed to fly by...
A lot of my profession-related takeaways were about technical/hardware stuff - very helpful! Such a relief to have so many knowledgeable people that are able to communicate the information in ways that this not-so-tech-savvy person could understand! Somehow it's just not the same over the phone or in an online chat.
It was interesting to me to note that when the majority of a group is so open and giving it's really easy to spot the guarded, and those who brought only a fork to the potluck! (Thanks for that bit of wisdom, Grandma Faffy!)
Many good sessions, and the FaffCon philosophy is absolutely conducive to a productive time. _________________ Happy to be here.

Faffcon 4 was excellent. I came home loaded with great ideas and a ton of stuff to do. Loved finally meeting Lee Gordon our fabulous cake maker, and having some serious face time with Karen Lehman's wine. J S and everyone else I interfaced with we're so fun and inspirational. Gotta go to Charlotte. _________________ Bobbin Beam

By the way, my earlier response is already obsolete. Since Faffcon, every time I record an audition I can hear Marc Cashman inside my head, giving me direction. I turned in an audition a little before 3 Friday afternoon and booked the job 7 hours later.
And I was a little worried that I might have to miss Faffcon 5 because it falls on my mother's birthday weekend. But when I mentioned it to her last night she didn't expect any special festivities because it's not a divisible-by-5 birthday. Good thing she's only turning 92 and not 95. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Putting aside all the quantifiable benefits of Faffcon... the enhanced skills, the techniques acquired, the value derived from just listening to other points of view and experiences... all those good things that make it a legitimate tax write-off... take all that as read, and what's left? A bloody good time!
I'm with Corey on this one... I have made meaningful contact with many people who have changed my life (Corey even lent me his hat for a while... only a buddy does that!). Relationships, both personal and professional, don't need to have dollar amounts attached to them.
The Faffcon tribe has enriched my life... which is far more important than my bank-balance.
Cheers
