Well, make sure you get the box set titled "The Last Waltz."
He did a week stint at Kimballs East in Emeryville and every evening's performance was recorded. He did not play like a man who would be dead within a few days -- I believe he passed from this scene about 10 days later. It's really incredible to hear him play and introduce tunes. The trio was astonishing. Get it. You'll never regret the money spent.

Awesome Charlie, I will look into that one for sure. I do not have it. Sounds great. _________________ Ben

Oldies baby!
Houston has to be the one of the worlds worst radio markets so....
I have my very own "radio network" currently comprised of three online stations. Go to: www.woodlandsradionetwork.com. Drop by anytime 24/7.
For the best of the 60s & 70s (my personal favorite) select "Rock n Roll Radio Reunion." If the fifties are your thing click on Fabulous Fifties...and for big bands and standards check out Radio Stardust.
The website is still under construction but the music is fine. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome. _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

...another enduring thread.
I guess I'm the odd guy out.
I almost never listen to music, and certainly not in my car. The 20-min drive to and from work 4 times a day is the only quiet time I get. All else is sensory overload in a newsroom with blaring monitors, loud police scanners, and worried producers -- or at home with 3 loud teenage girls.
On the rare ocassion I bust loose with a CD, it's old Doobie Brothers.

I have a great Clapton DVD concert I put in when I want some extremely solid music lessons. Billy Preston plays with him on it along with Nathan East on bass and some other legends...Steve Gad on drums....it is amazing. ....especially Mr. Preston (God rest his soul). He is an incredible Hammond B3 player. _________________ Ben

I'm a 70's and 80's music lover and, while scraping paint off my house (getting ready to paint it), I've been diggin' the sounds of the the Scorpions, Boston, Queen, Bon Jovi, KISS and other assorted rockers along with some Bee Gees, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Alice Cooper thrown in for good measure. Sounds like a strange mix, I know, but it comes together so well I had a great Boston and Scorpions concert today on the front porch, where I'm currently scraping. |

Dave....Thanks for posting about your internet radio stations. I LOVE the
"Rock n Roll Radio Reunion" channel! Now I don't get anything done because I'm too busy jamming to those awesome tunes! _________________ TG2

Hey Tom...thanks for tuning in...the more the merrier!
Dave
P.S. I'll have to admit to the same problem getting things done. Not at all unusual for me to suddenly realize I've stopped working as I get lost in thought thinking about where I was when "that song was on the radio." _________________ . Robin Trower is a guitar God! Jimi Hendrix reincarnated! 'Saw him in Minneapolis once.
But I understand today the guy is an absolute recluse. Even the guys in his band can't get an autograph from him.
