Client has requested 24 bit wav files. Audition 3 only does 16 and 32. What gives? _________________ Jeff

I've saved 32 bit files as 24-bit packed int (Type 1, 24-bit) in Audition many times..its in the options menu... I know they are 24 bit because I've imported them into ProTools and PT doesnt handle a 32 bit file |

Hi Jeff,
I had the same situation recently. I thought I'd recorded 24bit in Audition 3.0 and when I went back to the files later they were showing up as 32bit or 16 bit.
However, I just got the new Adobe Audition CS6 and it has full support for 24 bit. (I think some clients want it for mastering HD/BluRay?) A lot of people HATED CS5.5 because so many of the features from the previous Audition releases were missing, but Adobe has apparently listened to all of the feedback they've gotten and restored the most desired fuctions. So far I really like it. The editing tools are a little different from prior releases (to maintain consistency with the other Adobe progs like Premiere and After Effects) but it runs like a charm and no hiccups when running in Win7 64 bit. |

hey rainvo - re: cs6
can you easily add silence now?
did they fix that stupid thing where, when trying to punch in, where the recording starts at the last cursor position INSTEAD of recording inside the area marked?
those are my two biggies. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Hi Todd,
Nice to meet you!
For the silence, the process (from the top bar) is Edit -> Insert->Silence
Then you specificy the amount you want in MM:SS:000 format
Also, you can go to the Hotkeys setting and create custome shortcuts for any command, including this one... say CTRL+S.
For punching in, you click/drag to select the range and usually the cursur will get fixed at the beginning of the timed section. If it doesn't you can position it there. They DID fix the problem of CS5.5 where it would keep recording past the selection. It stops just fine now. Also, since usually when you punch in it you might do it a few times, you'll want to right-click the triangular Play button and check Return Playhead to Start Position on Stop.

The thing I miss still are the old zoom controls. The icons here look different so they throw me off!
Cheers!
