Hi, my first VO gig may be coming up (non union) -- it's an in-store commercial that I'm being told will probably be used on the internet. The company has about 10 locations here in the city I live in.

Can I require a yearly fee for every year it plays in the store AND the internet? (on top of the session fee of course)

I have never done this before, not very experienced with negotiating rates.

JackB,

The first thing is; I need to write is: "congratulations". Second: The good thing about a career in Voice Over is that no one tells you how to run your business. No one (unless you are a union talent) sets your prices or tells you how to collect your fees.

Each market has it's own rate structure. Which means you might desire to do some research in your area and find out what the current average fees are and determine your own value. Ask the hard questions; do people charge "buyout" fees or single 13 week run or one time fee, etc.

If the client is amiable to an arrangement as you describe - then, why not? Will your client use your services again? This is the question you have to weigh with each customer/client you work with. Only YOU can determine your value. Even though the customer will likely try to make you feel you are worth less than your standard fee.
