Hi All!
I have been recording skype conversations with a free version of Wiretap Studio. Now I need to either buy it or find something else. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations. I just want to record audio and it's not for professional use...just for my own listening.
Wiretap is ok. There is some echo (which can be reduced), but I'm wondering if there is something better out there.
I have a mac os 10.5.8 and use protools Le8 and adobe cs5.5.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been using Pamela for skype. However, i bought the business version (around $30.00) to get the longer recording times, etc. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Did someone say my name? I've been so busy recording conversations I haven't been around much. But heck $30 is $30 right? _________________ Pam Tierney

Unfortunately, Pamela is a PC program...meaning us Mac peeps can not partake. I was using a little program called LineIn to patch stuff through...but it was messy and didn't sound good. I ended up with a very simple solution:
Output from Skype to iMac speakers.
Input to Skype is my interface (where my mic is plugged in).
Then I record as normal. My iMac speakers are silent, and those directing me typically aren't doing anything but listening while I'm recording. If you have an issue with someone breathing too loud or something goofy like that, you can always just run the output through a strip with a gate...hasn't been an issue for me though. Works great for Skype Patch directing. PLUS you don't have to record with headphones on (unless you really like to) and you can record both sides of the booth.
This all assumes you want to record a VO session...if you just want to record your chat with someone...then LineIn is probably a better bet. I've also done this to record coaching sessions. |

I really like this program.

It was suggested to me by George Whittam.
There is a trial you can try before you buy it.

Another +1 for our own Pamela.
For Mac or PC there is also another easy way to record conversations providing you have another way to record like a n mp3 recorder...
The headphone output from your speakers can be used as an input to the recording device. Simple, but levels can be tricky.

I use CallRecorder, it just works automatically, it's built into Skype as a plugin, don't ever have to think about it. I like that it adds an input/output level meter so you know for sure you're sending/receiving audio. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I'm giving the trial version of call recorder a try today.
