So even though I'm using Voices.com less and less due to reasons most are familiar with (declining quality of posts, excessive competition... yay, I can be #101 to audition for a four-hour-old post, anybody can do it!!, etc) Over the past year or so, they have really be hinting that they really, REALLY don't want you working around their SurePay system.
Now I'm not going to go into the reasons why a lot of us would want to bypass the whole VO-with-training-wheels esrow thing, as we are all professionals here. But when respoding to a regular and PRIVATE job invitation today, the system pops up a new message:
"Communicating outside of the Voices.com service is discouraged as it violates our terms of service. Please remove contact information from your proposal. If this message appeared after you selected a template, please remember to edit your template"

Umm... say, what? You don't think the client might want to call me if they're in a rush? If the system is down?
I mean, seriously? Is it not basic common sense that we would want to provide our contact info in all our correspondence?

Let's look to the new post in their FAQ

"...As you may know, not all the jobs that are posted on the site are completed on the site. This has been a reality since we started and is an area that we recognize needs to be addressed more proactively on our part.

Clients have the ability to contact you through the internal messaging system at Voices.com by clicking the Ask a Question link beside your audition, making the disclosure of personal contact information unnecessary.

This being said, Voices.com will be enforcing our Terms of Service more effectively with the goal of keeping more business at the site. One of the ways we will be doing this is restricting outbound links from the Voices.com site on voice talent profiles and in proposal templates. The same will also apply to telephone numbers and email addresses...."

All I got to say is "wow".

Locking, as this is actively being discussed in an earlier thread at http://www.vo-bb.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14706
