DeWitt recently lost the toolbox that has all his painting gear in it. At first he thought he might have left it at a sketch group so he spent a few days making phone calls but it turns out he accidentally drove off with the toolbox on the siderail of his pickup truck.
(We know this because the across-the-street neighbor told him she saw it there— which also means she's looking at everything that happens out in front of the house. yipes!)

DeWitt retraced his driving steps but didn't find any evidence of the red toolbox or its contents. Today, he checked in with the South Berwick Constabulary and BY JOVE someone had retrieved it and all of the brushes, tiny paint tubes, etching & drypoint tools, mixing trays, etc. So all is restored! The cops don't know who found it, they didn't leave a name.

This is a pay-it-forward episode if there ever was one!

OK, this makes me happy to be part of the human race (at least, for the time being).

I hope his nerves are recovered from what he thought was a certain loss of his carefully put together work tools.
We also do indeed need stories to restore our crumbling faith in the inherent goodness of mankind. (Deidra should that be "personkind" these days?)

I have become convinced of the helpfulness of the "Shangra La" and Buddistic philosophy of "Moderation in all things" Which means moderation also in your consternation at the loss of material things. As well as a modulated exultation over a career moving VO win.

Where may I see some of his work btw?

With a beautiful name like Deirdre I would want people to spell it right also.

I have looked at the portfolio of DeWitt. It is stunning. I was moved. Like many, whose sensory perambulations have been rewarded with a diminishment of pleasure, caused by over exposure to beauty, I am not moved easily.

The loss of innocence is perhaps the greatest loss we all face.
