Yeah, that word caught my eye too. I can see why the writer would choose that term though... I just moved a few weeks ago and as I'm renting I didn't want to mount all of my acoustic panels permanently to the walls/ceiling, so my PVC solution does have a bit of a "makeshift" vibe to it.
