I have a DBX 286a. It has worked for what I needed it for, wasn't amazing sounding, but for the price it was a great piece of gear.
Enter problem (and not a GAS problem)
I've gotten my room tweaked quite well, and my noise floor is down below -70db. The problem is, now, I can hear my pre noise (albeit noise that no one notices unless you max your volume on silence) . When I use just the Apogee Duet 2 into the computer, the noise is gone.
Ok...now to the question. I have been using the de-esser and a tiny bit of compression on the way in, as well as sometimes using the LF and HF enhancer to tweak my tone. Wait...that wasn't a question.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a really good sounding strip plugin? I'd love to just record straight, then tweak in post. All I have now are the stock AA CS6 plugins. |

My trick with AA3 is to use the Restoration>Adaptive Noise Reduction (Light) and then use the compander (-50dbFS expander threshold, no compression) in the Dynamics. Companders/Gates always sound, well...pumping/gate-ish, but if you use the noise reduction first, it's like everything disappears except for your voice. No hiss, hum, buzz, or ambience. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
