I fixed my win7 install problem (see my other post in this section...YAY!!) and went to start up my gear for a session today and the mBox2 isn't powering up. It works as I unplugged it and plugged into my laptop which was my old recording computer, thank heavens for redundancy!!, so I was able to do the 2 sessions I had scheduled for today. But I can't for the life of me get the mBox to power up. It was working before I installed win7 as I have it boot up when I start up the mini. Looked at both AA for mac and Protools and neither one shows it as being hooked up. I also looked at the Digi coreAudio manager and it says no hardware to be found. What the heck is going on? I've been searching in the DUC but that place is like a black hole going into a rabbit hole followed by an LSD trip (so I've been told). I'm getting power to the mic as the meter is moving on the preamp but no audio controls. Any ideas from the smartest people on earth? Think this is because I now have 2 boots drives even though I'm not using win7 for recording?

Having two boot drives really shouldn't interact with each other. They should be different HD partitions, and would appear as different drives written in different code.

Have you tried the firewire helper? Here is a link to an Avid how-to:

Also, are you starting the computer with the Mbox plugged in or no? Have you tried both ways? I remember you saying you couldn't start Win7 with stuff plugged in, but can you start OSX with stuff plugged in?

Those are just a couple thoughts.

I did all the pram, smc and nvram resets and worked for about 90 minutes with apple support. Just got back from the genius bar and they are replacing the logic board which thank heavens is still under warranty. Unfortunately it may take 2 days but I have a back up system I can use in a pinch for shorter recordings. So all is well in Pamland at the moment. But that'll change just like the weather!!

Replacing the Logic Board is an all too oft heard comment in the shadowy underworld of Apple. This is why Apple Care is MANDATORY, and sell your Apple stuff before the 3 years expire and move on to something new before it dies on the 1096th day. Apple maintains value amazingly well, so it's not too bad of a hit.
That said, my new Mac Mini Quad Core i7 is on it's way tomorrow...
