As the Faffvangelists return to the their home hutties to read out loud they are full of new ideas, new inspirations and the genuine joy of having spent a delightful time with old friends, to say nothing of making a few new ones.
My guess is that more than one or two mentioned, during the course of the weekend, the desire to take their career to the next level. Fabby! In fact most of us have said it and then thrust ourselves into inactivity in order to achieve this "next level". Why do they "don't" this? Because they firmly believe that their next level is the level someone else has managed to reach. WRONG!!! Never do that! BECAUSE like most Voiceoverists they...ARE...TALKING...COMPLETE..SHITE! Don't believe them! EVER!

Just smile and say ...."That's nice"
Then.
Define your next level, be brief yet as specific as possible. CLEARLY define YOUR next level.
Here's mine.
"To halve my workload and double my income within two years"
See..that's specific.
Now, what's yours? If it's private you're not expected to share .... Just another thought. |

This year, my goal was "Earn $X per week." Many thanks, Mr. Banks, sir, for your inspiring post earlier this year that gave me the idea and dovetailed nicely with my number-cruncher tendencies.
At the moment, next year's goal is "Work at least Y gigs per week.," so that I'll be driven to get ISDN and get over my fear of live sessions in my not-quite-soundproof booth.
Then back to $Z (bigger than X!) per week. I do so love those crunchy numbers.

Drill down to the source of my "Fear of Success," then lay the smackdown on it with some crushing cold calling techniques to get me deep deep deep into the game.
