A couple of years ago I was doing a session for an ad agency, ISDN to Buzzy-Bees Studios in Burbank. Very ordinary TV commercial for Watchyaknowbud Bank.

I explain something very clever about their new chequered account and m'lovely colleague Jennifer who was sat sitting in the LA booth would then add the ..so call us now etc. Simple!

"Philip, don't try, relax, smile and tell you us what you know" asked Scott the creative Director. They run the pictures in the studio and have placed 3 beeps on the audio so I can take my cue. Jenny starts when I finish ...Now THAT thar is a plan!

"Here's take 1 for time and level" says Wes the sound. Nice music then BEEP BEEP BEEP ...I (technical term) read out loud ....then ...silence ...then ......

"I am so sorry ...I'm gonna need a second" wobbles Jenny

Hysterical laughter from control room

"Stop it ...This is SO unprofessional of me ..I AM SO sorry!"

"Are you ok there?" I ask

"YOU SHUT THE F*CK UP! You are SO not helping!"

I know when I'm not wanted so I shut up.

Philip, in Los Angeles there is a Hankook tire commercial currently running and I've wondered since it first aired if it was you. Your pipes bellowing for any tire companies here in the USA?

So...I don't know if I ever mentioned this..but.....

In my previous "behind the glass" life...I actually auditioned Philip!

All I remember is that as soon as the ISDN session ended, I walked into the Production office and said
"Holt Cr*P that guy is good! I could listen to him read the phone book!"

Little did I know that less than a year later I would meet him here again.
(I like it HERE a LOT better!) Wink
