Hello Friends. I am new to the forum, this is my first post, hope I get it right.
The $20.00 Phone Patch ... Seriously!
Like many others, judging by various forum discussions, I lately have been wrestling the phone patch demons, unwilling to shell out the big bucks and wasting the small ones on finicky little boxes and wiring ... grrrrrrrr!
Well, this week I was working on a completely unrelated phone issue, and a simple low-cost solution popped into my head, accompanied by the proverbial flashing light bulb ...then of course the thinking " naw, this is too simple, I must be missing something ...".
Ok, I'll get to the point. I went out and bought a $20.00 set of earbuds with an inline mic, in this case this one ...

I plugged it into my cellphone (you can use a land-line phone if you prefer), put the earbuds in my ears, then also hung the in-line mic over my left ear. I then put on my regular headphones over the buds and mic, fired up my VO microphone and recording software, made a phone call, and VOILA ...
I can hear the client loud and clear through the earbuds. The client hears exactly what I hear in my headphones, whether it's me speaking (recording), or playback. If for some reason I don't want the caller to hear something, I can simply mute the phone.
I tested it twice with two very particular callers and it worked like a charm! IMHO, this is not just a poor substitute for the "real thing", but a true, simple and inexpensive solution.
Figured I'd share this here, hope it helps. Try it, let me know what you think.
