Hey Gang,
Any overall feedback you have is appreciated. This is not an actual project, just practice. Thanks! (just a short 5-minute clip BTW)
Editing BTW is just basic and not perfect by any means.

Your narration is fine, but what's killing it for me is the production quality:
1) your room has a bunch of echo
2) you're gating or noise reducing the heck out of it, so it goes silent in between sentences. Don't do this.
3) I can hear background noise, including page turns. _________________ Jeff

Hi Rob!
I'm guessing you wanted feedback concerning your performance since you mentioned "chops" which I always relate to "acting chops."
I had the same feedback as Jeffrey. Your narration seems just fine for this piece, but the production quality will ultimately need some attention. _________________ Ben Stovall Voiceover

thanks for the input, guys. I'm in a temporary corporate apt since we just moved to Florida, and doing all my recording on a laptop in an untreated room. so this is definitely not my usual setup.
But wow I didn't know the room echo was that bad. Just goes to show you what you miss on laptop speakers. |

Rob, it's probably best to listen to your recording(s) with a good set of studio headphones as part of your process. I'm always amazed at what I didn't catch through my studio monitors! Also, a good segment of people will be listening to your work via headphones and earbuds. _________________ Ben Stovall Voiceover

I was attempting to confer, but you inferred that I should have implied.

Rob.... I can highly recommend Command Strips by 3M. I've hung my room treatment with the Velcro type. Stick one side to the back of your treatment panels with the Velcro side sticking out.... Attach the matching Velcro side, remove the adhesive backing, and press the panel to your wall.
If you need to remove or relocate the panels, just pull them off the wall, leaving the Command Strip behind.... Then, pull the Command tab, and the adhesive comes cleanly off the wall with no damage. Perfect for temporary digs. _________________ Don Brookshire
