It drives me nuts, I've had clients contact me, saying they need something in the next day or 2, (only to never hear another word)..some have even gone as far as to book a session, and then cancel at the last minute...as of this writing I have 4 projects that are hanging in limbo, somewhere between an interested client and an actual booking..

I realize there are a multitude of reasons why things can fall through,..but what I'd like to know is does this happen to any of you? or am I the only one that has problems with what I call "tire-kickers"?

Yep, have had my share of those.

One guy told me how ironic it was that I contacted him becuz he had something ready to be narrated that fit my style perfectly. That was the last I heard from the guy.

Another guy wanted me to call him "that afternoon" because he wanted to get rolling on the project...ya know, a sense of urgency about the whole thing. Called him...he told me hew would send stuff over to get going..never heard back form the guy. Frustrating.

I have a client who occasionally tells me that a gig is imminent. Those never seem to come about. When he really does need me, he just sends me the script and says, "Cut this, please."

Either they're doing it because they're testing the waters or they have no control on what *their* client is doing. Creative doesn't mean courteous.

In my short career, yes.

It is truly ironic that the most urgent producers tend to take the longest to pay, in my experience.

I believe I am finally getting the hang of it now...

Not that I have ANY real experience in VO (yet), but one way I as a teacher have solved problems like this is asking the person as I am on the phone with them the first time "When should I CALL YOU BACK to get the process going?" If you take the bull by the horns like this, I think you might get more follow through. Not that their behavior is in any way professional, but it might help you get an extra gig or two. Smile
