Found this floating around the web today.....

Apparently, Adobe is allowing free downloads of CreativeSuite2..... or just the parts of it you want. Adobe Audition 3,0 is part of this package, along with earlier versions of other popular Adobe a Hobo Tounge

An Adobe account is required, but it's a simple signup, and it's free.

I've heard around here that some users PREFER earlier versions, since AA removed some functionality as of version 5.5.

If you're not an Audition user, this might be a great opportunity to get on board.

I suspect the Adobe folks didn't intend for this to be a free-for-all. And to think I bought two copies a couple of years ago so that my needs would be covered. Lips Are Sealed

Yeah, Bish..... Check the slickdeals site for direct links to the downloads.... Once you've done the signup, the direct links should work.... may be easier than going in through the indirect links... YMMV Wink

Most commenters report the site is buried under the traffic.

I was just going to post this tip here. I'm downloading a few items I don't have that would be handy to put on my ancient macbook pro. These are ok for only those Intel Macs that were I think first gen and are running nothing later than Snow Leopard. Peeps are reporting that the links are working for Win7 PC's. So for things are opening just fine for me. CNET ran the story, it seems legit to me.

I'm now through on the official Adobe link. The CS2 suite does not include Audition, and the separate Audition listing is only for Windows. Rats. For the rest of the CS2, Mac users should be good up to 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), but these rather ancient (although perfectly good) a Hobo Tounge

s will install Rosetta during the install process. For my photo stuff, I've moved over to using Pixelmator, so without Audition, this deal is of limited (or no) value to me.

I installed and de-installed. Shame. Frown

edit... Thinks: Was CS2 Audition even available for PowerPC Macs?

No Bish it wasn't. AA 3.0 was only built for PC. Soundbooth was around but I don't think it was owned by Adobe yet. AA 5.5 was the replacement for SB and was built from the ground up for OSX.

I did download the Acrobat editor as I sometimes have need to be able to edit .pdf files. I also availed myself of Illustrator. Never know.

There's some interesting back-pedaling going on with Adobe. They seem to be now stating that as they are turning off the CS2 authentication servers, they provided the software and activation codes so that people who already own CS2 would be able to re-install when needed without getting messed-up because of the lack of on-line authentication.

Adobe are long-standing, internet-savvy company. They should know that you can't scratch your rump on the internet without it becoming common knowledge. If this latest position statement is true, then it was either an enormous "oops" or a brilliant piece of guerrilla marketing!

It's like a pub putting a "free beer" sign outside the door, letting people in and giving them copious amounts of ale... and then saying they didn't mean to do it. Too late. Hic! I'm getting in line for the gents... 'scuse me.

Interestingly, I am in the market to trade my iPad (which has been used for mobile recording) for a netbook with a SSD. Now I won't have to buy software (or use a free software) to edit in a practically identical environment as my iMac.

I've tried AA 3.0 and found it to be cumbersome (at least for me)..which was a shame because I liked some of the features & plug-ins...I'm one of those who likes good ol' AA 1.5..I got mine from an engineer friend who told me Adobe doesn't even sell licenses for that version anymore...
