As an outgoing voice message. Typically under the umbrella of a talent to client site, I've simply recorded and sent it as an mp3, but what if I want to do it independently for someone's business?

That has nothing to do with ISDN, but there are lots of posts on this site that contain the appropriate audio settings.

Thanks, Jason.

Jeff, you're more than welcome to delete the thread. Apologies for adding the extra layer of recycled info.

Alas, I'm having no luck in finding it.

The search is simply too broad, and I really don't know an efficient way to look up the subject specifically.

Any advice will greatly help.

Hey Daniel.
What exactly are you asking?
How to do telephony VO work without ISDN?

That's the way it's mostly done.
Either you work with clients directly and send them the files in the format that they need, or you get on a Message-on-hold company's roster and they send you work on a regular basis.

/shameless plug/
I did a whole webinar on telephony last year for VoiceoverXtra.
Email John Florian at johnflorian@voiceoverxtra.com
if you want to purchase it.
It's $39 I think. Full of info specific to this niche
/end shameless plug/

Hey, John..

That's more in the right direction of what I was thinking.

Specifically, I've got the file recorded and simply sending it to friend's small business in Nashville, to be used for her outgoing voice message.

I could send her the file, but how is she going to get on their while retaining quality?

I'm trying to make it easy for her, as she is an older lady and it's suppose to be a gift.

Ahhhh that's always the question with Telephony!
SHE has to tell you what format her system needs....and then she has to know how to get it into her system.
There is NO "standard"
And as to quality...that entirely depends on what format it ends up to be.
Nothing you can do about it...but it won't be 16bit 44.1K .wav quality for sure Wink

OR...she can just give you her number & password and you can call in record it right into her voicemail system.

Awesome. Thanks, John. I should be set from here.

Take care, and talk again soon.

Send her the file. Tell her to play it on her computer speakers. Hold phone to speakers. It's not perfect but the quality won't change since 8k is 8k. It will get the job done.

If you want to do more work like that on your own in the future you should look into getting a phone patch (like the That 2). Good luck!
