Or somewhere in the middle?
I have a directed audition scheduled at a studio next week. The window was 1-4, and I took 1PM, so I'm going first. Which means I could blow them away, and everyone after me won't have a chance...
OR, I could be pretty good, but others following me could be good, too, and my audition might not be remembered by 4:00PM.
So what's your philosophy? Go early and try to wow 'em right off the bat... or go late and be their last impression? _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

Good call, Kristin. I've seen many auditions closed down because the producer found what he was looking for. Never go last. _________________ Don Brookshire

'Tis better to have auditioned than not at all.
Just be there. And do your best. If you are the one the producer wants, YOU are the one.

It's the same with on-line... how many jobs get awarded without yours even being opened? I'm sure in-person is more structured and you will be heard... but Don speaks words of wisdom... minds could be made up already. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Then, I guess it's up to you to be memorable.

I usually ask for the earliest slot for which I am available, but it's because that's when I'm lively and relaxed. As the day moves on, I start feeling looming end-of-day events (like my mom chauffer duties, and not-yet-done to-do list items) encroaching on my concentration.
Also, much like the doctor's office, getting there early means getting to do your audition on time - the later in the day, the more other people's tardiness can bleed into your start time.
And finally, I don't like standing in the hallway listening to someone else read what I think of in my head as my gig's script. _________________ Kendra Hoffman

You could also look at it this way. The 1st read can often set the standard by which the other reads are compared. As Lee said... Make yours memorable. _________________ "Bailey"

Get in asap. Even if they don't use you they heard you and may use you for something else. |

Thanks for chiming in!
I brought my A-game, did well (or so they said)... then told everyone else waiting in the lobby that the director wanted OVER-THE-TOP "announcer-y" for the read...

I like to do my audition later in the day, so when some wiseguy comes back to the waiting area after doing the audition and tells us what the director is looking for, I know to do the opposite. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
