I was having lunch with a lovely author I know, and she was telling me that she'd like to record some of her book trailers herself.
I told her if she ever wanted to stop by and use my equipment, she'd be welcome. To which she replied - "oh, I just figured I'd record it at home. I record my notes to my students that way."
Her equipment? "just my computer. I hit record."
Then she looked at me and said "Is there really that much of a difference?"
I blinked. Opened and shut my mouth once. Smiled and said "yes" and we moved on to other topics.
What's your favorite realization moment and/or taught-somebody-something-about-VO moment? (Not that I think she actually learned something...but I'm hoping I planted the seed, at least) _________________ Kendra Hoffman

A few years ago I was sitting in one of the dubbing theatres at "Films at 59" in Bristol - The dub,mix and record all the audio for the BBC Wildlife programmes, amongst other things.
I was waiting my turn to do something and Bob a veteran local and network news broadcaster was shown into the VO booth. he seemed somewhat ill at ease.
"Mmmmm I didn't realise there would be an audience" he said.
I glanced over the top of my newspaper and saw Bob looking at me.
"As you haven't started yet would anyone mind if I go and see Leona?" I asked. Leona being the receptionist. I was excused.
Bob - God of news was nervous because I was listening. In our world I'm intimidating* and some people aren't as confident as they appear.
