Rousted around 630 from a happy sleep by my wife, who keeps calling for our youngest, a ten month old kitteh named Fiona..... Who can't be found anywhere. Drowsy and muttering, I check and double-check the attic, the closets, and every known hidey-hole, to no avail. Thank God I made coffee last night.

Mom's becoming convinced she's slipped the door and made for daylight. Really? It's cold out there.... Bundling up, I hook up Maggie the wonderdog.... Come on, girl.... Let's take a walk around the neighborhood and see if we can find her.....

01:30 Sent off last chapter of audiobook to my editor. No deadline looming, just the siren call of having it done

06:30 Dogs, kids, breakfast...the usual

07:35 Email from a new client, who first contacted me mid-Jan but has been waiting for client approval. Approval on deck - could I record today? Yes. Yes I can.

Quiet rest of the day planned - catch up on my volunteer reading, dogs to the park, auditions.

1100GMT Lotta calls and asks about a natural history documentary. She's very sweet so I agree to the session without really listening.

1130GMT go to Tesco to buy stuff to make a chilli.

NOON Decline over written low budget radio ad.

1205 Make chilli and eat with nachos and grated cheese.

Twice round the neighborhood, and no sign of Fiona.... Once back inside, Maggie the Wonderdog spies the kitteh treats scattered around the floor in hopes of luring her out. Off she goes, snarfing up the little gems of kitteh goodness....

Did Nana leave me any coffee? Thank God, there's almost a whole cup. A few minutes inside to warm up.... and another check of closets and hidey-holes. Stuff some more beans in the coffeemaker, add the water.... Push start.

C'mon, girl. Here's your leash. Let's go check out the woods across the street....

7:30 Woke to snowfall, put a log on the fire, went back to bed.
9:30 got up, looked at email, Facebook, NotAlwaysRight.com, ClientsFromHell.com, Reddit.
Picked up scripts for a Russian client: game characters
They still haven't paid me for the promos I cast and received recordings for last month, but I'm going to pay the other talent anyway because I will need their voices on this new project.
10:15 got dressed and made tea. read paper. played with Chance MaLance.
11:00 updated my dry erase board list to include sending invoices, having a talk with a game audio designer about creating game demos for people, learning my way around a new WordPress design for PF's shop, cutting out the lining for my long coat, and sending creature voice samples to a guy in Poland.
11:15 put a load of towels in the wash, played with Fighty Biterson.
11:30 saw this thread and wrote this stuff.

My office/room is on the 2nd floor of the house, and the washing machine is in the basement. Lots of stairs all day long.

Once around the wood, and then a 3rd trip thru the neighborhood.... Still no luck. Maggie's slowing down, no longer so eager, the leash droops between us.

As we approach the house, Maggie perks up.... Squirrel! And a flash of calico and white as Fiona gives chase. There she is, Maggie.... Go get her! As Maggie bounds up, Fiona is distracted by her exuberant dance of joy.... allowing me to scoop her up as I approach. Kitteh in arm, I turn for the house, with Maggie bringing up the rear, leash skittering alongside.

Let's go home.... Coffee's on. Smile

Glad you found your kitteh Don!

6:15 AM - started hubby's car while he was getting ready to leave for work, made breakfast for me and the kiddo and gave in to her request for 5 more minutes of sleep.

6:30 - breakfast with the kid

7:15 - drove down the road to meet the school bus

7:30 - cuppa tea, e-mail, FB, etc

8:15 - started listening to The Billion Dollar Read

8:30 - thought I may as well walk on the treadmill while I'm listening since I haven't done any exercise in ages...and walked for an hour

9:30 - did a little research on an upcoming audiobook I need to get going on soon

11:00 - a quick audition

11:30 - phone call from the school stating the kiddo has a belly ache, but she said she is going to try and get through the rest of the school day

12:15 - after typing this, going to start the car and take the dog to his vet appointment (after some cuddle time with him first Laugh)

2:45 - will hopefully be done at the vet in time to go pick kiddo up from school so she doesn't have to deal with that long 45 min bus ride when she's not feeling great

7:00 a.m. - up to feed the dogs, make the coffee

7:30 - check e-mails, play a bit of online backgammon

8:- ish - made a great breakfast for me, my wife and my 19 year old son who greatly surprised me by driving up from Orlando last night as a belated birthday surprise to me

9-ish: voiced the daily NPR stuff.

10 ish - wrote 3 60-second scripts for a steady client for approval to go to air. Waiting on approval before voicing and full production.

In-between: submitted one or two auditions for both the agent and V123

Soon: Hopping on the recumbent trike for a 30-mile bike ride in our sunny, 65 degree weather!

Woke up, fell out of bed.
Dragged a comb across my head.
Found my way downstairs and
drank a cup.
And looking up, I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat.
Made the bus in seconds flat.
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and somebody spoke and I went into a dream.
Smile

1:10 Pickup for a different client

1:19 Heading for lunch. And turning the furnace back on.

Up at 0700... roust the kids. Son Alex is especially recalcitrant.
0730- brew coffee, peruse comics and continue to frog-march children through their morning routine.
0800- daily standup meeting with fellow VOs. Lots of good stuff discussed.
0830- Sent several followup emails to audiobook publishers to whom I have sent my demo. Other email discussions.
0900- Take wife Robin to doctor (I have a lot of this kind of thing during the week), while she is there go to post office, grocery store and bank.
1040- Book another audiobook gig. Yay!
1100- come home, eat lunch.
1220- post in this thread.
1222- Sip coffee and drink more water.
1230- start recording.

Usually I like to get my recording done in the morning as much as I can, but sometimes schedules interfere.

Normal morning getting the kids up and out.
7:30-9 - catch up with work papers, invoicing
9 on, meet the builder at the house, settle into the barn to work in the office. Constant interruptions as I'm general contractor on this revamp. Calls and emails to all of my contractors and code officer.
Noonthirty - lunch, kids off the bus (darn early release) feed them
Hardware store to order windows. guy not there. still waiting for him at the barn. Building supply guy showed up which was very helpful. There was math and trusses. My head hurt.
Been editing and now corresponding here. It's just past 5:30 and the kids have been having a blast pretending they are at hogwarts.
Moment of gratitude that, even though the house is a total mess, we made the right move by moving now.
Time to head to the other home and close down the barn for the night.
