|

I started doing audio books and bought ProTools 8LE for the punch and roll features. Couldn't get AA3 punch and roll macro to work. Bought a never used Mbox 2 mini on Ebay, but it didn't have the registration I.D. or release date paperwork with it. I don't care about AVID's service contract. Is there any way to get this thing registered generically? I don't even need this A/D converter as I already have a Behringer 1204USB mixer and this will just add "dirt" into my audio chain, but ProTools won't run without it. Thanks in advance. _________________ http://www.seniorvoiceovers.com

Festus, you'll have to specify exactly what the issue is. Does Pro Tools demand a license key for the Mbox, or is it the software registration key that is missing? |

You don't need a registration key or ID to run the Mbox, but you do need a Serial #registration key to run the software.. and then an account on AVID to install updates.. |

First find out if it works at all by downloading the Drivers off AVID. If it runs, it will run Protools. Yes it needs a registered serial to execute ProTools, but the box does not need more than just the Drivers to get up and running with the editors.
I just got rid of my mBox2 after 6 years, it's a great box. _________________ -----

Hi Bill: Thanks so much, that was the exact answer to the question I was asking. I didn't know if I had to return the used box because it had no paperwork. As it turns out, after reading the documentation. Avid does not support the Vista 64 bit operating system. Kept dying on the message DAE is loading. I was shutting it down before it finished. In any event, when I unistalled the 8LE on the X64 system, and installed it on another laptop with the 32 bit OS, it saw the box and is running flawlessly. I'm posting this lengthy explanation for everyone's general knowledge, in case anyone else faces a similar problem in the future. Again, Bill thanks.

You still need to register on the Avid site to install all the updates to 8.0, guy. The updates are all the tweaks and fixes to 8.0 |
