Dan,

I know it's all in fun; still, I'm more impressed with your edit and the delivery than I am with mine. (I will, however, take full credit for lifting Wanda Sykes' F-bomb out. Never mind that the very next word also begins with an "F"... Wink)

Thanks to Dan I can post this. It was fun to do......thanks for letting us newbies play too. http://www.dannachtrab.com/clerksgreg.mp3 You guys are the BEST! I've learned so much from this board.

Now that's a movie-trailer voice. Perfect attitude, too! If I may say, you don't sound like a newcomer to this.

Exercises like this are good fun and if we're smart we learn so much. Vanity allows us to hear ourselves and hearing our work against others teaches us to listen with a degree of humility and get better at what we do.

"Hey Philip, Grrrrrrrrrreat read, nothing wrong with that at all" - My unbiased out of context opinion.

"Mmmmmmmm, think again" - My in context opinion.

It doesn't matter how good we believe ourselves to be or how bad, there is everything to gain a nothing to lose from games like this.

Thanks David, I was in radio many years ago and did a tiny bit of VO here and there. About 2 years ago I started thinking of getting into the biz....tired of corp life etc. I was awful however and ended up stopping a year later. I took some time away, and decided to try once again. Then I started to work with this great guy who took me under his wing and guided me to where I needed to be. I'm forever in his debt.

Indeed. Everyone did an excellent job. It is fun to throw your voice into trailers like that. Dan, sorry for re-mixing your shell.....after listening to mine after doing it....mine sounds way too much high on the "treble" scale. I will never remix your shells again..... Foot in Mouth

Thanks for posting some fun David and Dan.

So true. When I first saw this thread, I thought to myself that there was no point in jumping in -- I just don't have the "Voice of God" trailer sound, so why bother trying? Then last night I started to rethink that. Why not just give it a try and see what I can come up with? Surely this will happen at an audition someday, where I'll need to just come up with something, anything, even if I think I'm not right for the part. So I tried a few angles -- deadpan, way-over-the-top silly, and a few others that shall remain nameless.

I settled on this:

Clerks II

It was fun, and I did learn a few things -- about my voice, and about how to use Pro Tools.

And, in an extra bit of serendipity, while I was tweaking the mix this morning, my phone rang: It was a talent agent asking me to come in for an interview next Tuesday.

There's a lesson in there, I think...

Terrific jobs, each and all.

Travis, you owe me for one pair of socks; the ones I had seem to have been knocked off. Great job going that extra mile!

Alright, I'm going to play too. Here's my take. I dig this stuff. You all sound so good, I'm a little embarrassed, but here it is.
