This could be factors beyond the mics.... I was hearing a little "splat" in the first one...a little distortion? a little over-driven? In comparison the second was cleaner and a little flat sounding to me but that can be adjusted in post if needed, yes?

1st was the rode ntg 3 - and, yes, it was pushed a bit because i didn't change anything at all from mic to mic - maybe i should have done that, huh?

2nd was my trusty AT 4050/CM5

i only like grapefruit juice with vodka, and even then i prefer whiskey ... and i'm nearly always 30º off axis.

the rode is at the end of a boom pole ensconced in a blimp right now, for video work, but i intend to put it to VO use as well.
