Right now I'm having lots of fun doing narrations on an old C414 and commercials on a 416, but neither of them like being shouted at.
I'm wondering what mics you like for what you might call "muscular" reads? Carpet sales, Monster Truck Rallies etc.
Don't get too much call for these in this day and age (thank goodness) but I could really use a mic that's quiet, high quality and quite forgiving in that department.
I'm wondering if there's a high quality dynamic mic out there that might suit? _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover

You might consider some of the mics that are standards in the broadcast industry, like the Sennheiser MD421, EV RE-20, Shure SM7B and SM5B.
"Jocks" have been shouting at these for years.
Among these, the MD421 and SM5B are my personal faves. _________________ Don Brookshire

The C414 pad isn't doing the trick? It should handle at least 130dB, louder than you can yell, most likely. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I regularly shout at my SM7B. Back off a bit and have at it. It's very forgiving. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I noticed a Blue Snowball on a table in my favorite studio, asked the engineer if he was slumming. His answer? "My favorite mic for yelling." _________________ Dangerous.
