I am wrapping up one of the very few royalty-only audiobooks I've ever agreed to narrate and it's been well worth it.
It's this book:

... the biography of Walter Lantz, the creator of Woody Woodpecker, Andy Panda, Chilly Willy and others.
What is of particular fascination is how Walter's wife, Grace Stafford, came to become the enduring voice of Woody when Walter was re-casting for the voice. He initially refused to have a woman's voice for Woody, and turned down his wife. Grace, undeterred, slipped her audition anonymously in among the stack of 50 auditions (all known only by a number - the recording engineer was the only one who knew the identities) and Walter picked hers. She voiced Woody for something like 30 years or so. Here's a fun clip:

This is a book I would have read for the sheer enjoyment of it. If I make a few cents in royalties, well that's just icing on the cake. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
