A small percentage of job posters, particularly on Voices.com, send out "Thanks for auditioning" messages. Many appear to be canned responses, some say they'll keep you in mind for future projects (yeah, maybe), some say they've selected someone else, some even say "we've narrowed our choice down to you and two others" (I got one of those today), but earlier this week I got a pretty odd one. Perhaps some of you got it, too:
"Thank you for submitting your demo for consideration. We decided to change the creative direction of the video and no longer need a recorded voice over. Regards, ND College of Science
"

Let's hope that trend doesn't continue.

Ugh. They don't have it down to a science, it would seem.

The conspiratorial side of me thinks they found what they were looking for, decided to just grab it, and then made it look like they were going in a different creative direction. Hopefully that's not a trend either.

College of Science? They probably got a computerized voice to do it.

Or somebody's nephew.

That conspiracy theory might hold water if they were under any obligation to provide an update to the people who auditioned. However, most job posters either hire you or they don't, but don't inform the non-hirees one way or the other.

Today's nephews often speak in a tone not unlike that of some computers.
