|
|
I too just scored a MKH416, near mint with box and papers but TU-3 and will need the T Power adapter. I am almost feeling guilty for what I paid for it.
Does anyone have a recommendation? Sennheiser or inline aftermarket? Does one have less noise or effect the signal for better or worse? I see that some Sennheisers have a roll off and pad switch.
Anyone have one for sale? I would rather fill the pocket of a VO-BB'er than someone I don't know.
This is my first and I have read Bruce's primer.
Woo Hoo! I will finally be a member of the 416 club!
Thanks in advance!

From my research notes:
PSC A4812 48V Phantom to 12T Power In-Line Barrel Adapter for Microphones might very well be what you need. 39 bucks from B&H Photo Video.
This is a power issue and should not affect noise, one way or the other.
(BTW. The feeling of guilt will fade...) |

Bob.... Here you go.... Works like a charm, and converts 48v phantom power to 12v T power. Just plug it into the back of the mic, and connect your cable from your phantom source.

Remember, full 48v phantom power without the adapter will cook your mic.... A very expensive mistake. _________________ Don Brookshire

Hey Clutter. Bruce was the first reply to your 416 post. He gave a quick run down on working the mic. A search or two will bring up tons of pointers.
Don; Thank you. I was unaware Senny made an in line. I had heard some not so good stuff about the aftermarket ones.

FYI.... This is not made by Sennheiser. To my knowledge, Sennheiser no longer makes them, but a number of others do. PSC, which makes this one, is highly regarded. I have one. Works great. You can also find T power battery packs and power supplies on the second hand market. _________________ Don Brookshire
