Pretty interesting solution possibly, to my dilemma of killing outside noise without a booth or building out. Read somewhere someone suggesting grommeting these and hanging along with theatre-type curtains to surround yourself in a type of "Wizard of Oz" enclosure.

A reinforced roll of 54"x 30' is $486 w/o shipping. That about puts together a 7' square space. Intriguing in a hopeful way. _________________ Lee Kanne

What frequency range and intensity of noise are you looking to attenuate?
"Read somewhere..." Gotta link? _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Hanging a curtain of these is not likely to solve your problem. Blocking outside noise is tough, since any gap will allow sound through.... No matter how small. _________________ Don Brookshire

I guess the same you expect to attenuate with a Whisper Room in the typical VO home studio setup, George. Your standard leaf blowers, waste management vehicles, back - hoe, landscaping equipment, an otherwise quiet environment in the eve except for the HVAC unit .
Nick Sanabria mentioned the Izotope Rx as a plug in that can sample the offending noise and then remove it from the VO. Interesting. _________________ Lee Kanne

I didn't think of that. True. Which is why some pay $$$ for sealed doors. _________________ Lee Kanne

I don't think this material is suitable for grommeting and hanging. It is likely to pull apart pretty early on, if not immediately. This stuff is intended to be stuck down, directly onto the floors, walls and ceilings. Then, you could get some furniture blankets and grommet and hang them, or get something like Dan Lenard's "Studio Suit" to layer on top of the mass loaded vinyl. Besides, at STC-27, you'd need to double up on that stuff or have some other sound isolation scenario. And you'll note from their chart that the lower the frequency, the less effective the stuff is in blocking the sound. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
