Apparently we haven't talked about Dwolla, a service something like PayPal, but they only charge 25 cents per transaction instead of a percentage, and there's no charge for transferring less than $10, a real boon for those
Fiver users. The only drawback I see so far is waiting a few days for your money.

I hope this gets traction. Paypal has changed from an aggressive little start-up that wanted to break the incumbent payment systems... to part of the system itself... just another parasite that wants 3% of the pie (my pie).
Expect "dwolla hacked" headlines soon as the machine rolls to crush them before they make any significant headway.
Paranoid conspiracy theories. Maybe. Maybe not. I like alternatives in the marketplace... if nothing else it may show Paypal that they're not the only game in town (Google wallet or whatever it is now has become irrelevant).
We need a simple, cost effective conduit for the electronic transfer of funds. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Very interesting. I hope that Freshbooks hooks up with these folks. That would be all kinds of awesome. Whatever happens, I just hope that we can eventually (soon!) do away with the monstrosity that is the wire transfer. Not long ago I had to get paid by wire transfer for a small animation job that I did for a firm in Australia. The total of the sending and receiving banks' fees for the transaction was 13% of my payment. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

And this is why I love my small commercial bank - NOT a credit union which I dumped a while back because their fees were starting to rival the big banks - but a bank that caters to its customers. Incoming international wire transfers are $10. Much less expensive than paypal if you're making more than $350. |
