Thanks for the suggestions. Most of what I do (when studio based and traveling) is connect directly with different studio locations for client directed sessions.
Just as the real estate saying goes..." location, location location..", my saying when I'm traveling, or away for extended periods is ..."Backup, Backup, Backup.."..as in redundancy. Whether I've had ISDN installed offsite, or just depended on an IP solution, I've always carried "extras".
I have a Dell Mini that has performed flawlessly when needed, as well as an older XP based laptop. They're both optimized to run Source Connect as well as recording and processing auditions. With the advent of Source Connect Now, ipDTL, Luci Live and ...get ready...here's ANOTHER one...AudioTX STL-IP PLUS, it makes it that much easier to "lighten the load" so to speak by using a Droid or iPhone as part of the package.
So now with a tablet, a compatible smartphone, Mic Port Pro (or similar), another interface like MixerFace, 416 , spare mic (maybe)....I have a very manageable & dependable road kit with the ability to do live sessions that also has redundancy and can easily fit in a carry on. Most of this would be packed anyway for a trip. It is there if needed. If not, the bar is open.
Thanks for the phone suggestions for USB hosting. Working on it now.
