New Here! "Scuse me if I missed it in earlier posts.
Has anyone tried the new Lawson AirFet mic or the CharterOak E700 mics?
These are supposed to be "just right" for voiceovers.
Thanks,
Willie |

Appreciate it. Thanks for the PMs.
Let me explain, as far as the existing mic comparisons on the net--been there--done that many times. What I am looking for is anyone's experience with the new trend of higher quality mics that claim to favor VO. That's why I mention the AirFET and the E700.
My discussions with Larry Villella of ADK mics indicate an interest in manufacturers and designers in specialized lines or at least modifiying or pin-pointing their existing product to meet demand (so let's start demanding).
Erik at Summit Audio says the brand new Lauten mics may directly address the VO issue and they would like feedback.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to get a Sennheisr 416 to try out.
By the way, you guys using that Lawson 47 really sound good. |

Hiya,
I've tried two Charter Oak models after being told that they would "really suit my voice". Absolutely LOVED both the SA538 and the E700. They look awsome by the way. I think the SA538 sounded more cut-through for VO-work than the somewhat cheaper E700, but I own enough microphones as it is... I'm willing to spend a mere $1800 (1425 euros) if it brings me a 'new' sound, but I wonder which Brauner/Neumann or Rode has to go then... next week I'll have a couple of SE Electronics large membranes in the house... I'll let you guys (and gals) know... |

I wonder what manufacturers believe thay can do to a mic to "address the voice over issues". Smoke and mirrors I suspect. |

It's called "niche marketing." |

When I was mic shopping about a year ago I did look into the Charter Oak tube mics. "Cheaped out" in the end and bought an NTK. The 6k "bump" works nicely for me.
The idea of a "small-shop" made mic...from Connecticut (where I am) was interesting. To date...Still haven't heard one. Have a feeling they might be a little too "smooth/warm" for VO. Some of the boutique tube mics border on "fuzzy" when it comes to VO apps. |
