Stop the madness! Think of what this'll do to poor Pluto's already crappy self-esteem.
AP-Pluto (Tops)
Pluto a planet no longer
PRAGUE, Czech Republic (A - Pluto has been booted out of the
planetary club.
The little rock that millions of schoolkids learned was the
ninth planet from the sun is a planet no longer, thanks to historic
new guidelines adopted today by leading astronomers.
After a cosmic week-long clash over what qualifies orbital
masses for planetary status, the International Astronomical Union
has stripped Pluto of the designation it's held since its discovery
in 1930.
The decision by the prestigious international group spells out
the basic tests that celestial objects now have to meet before they
can be dubbed a planet.
Poor Pluto failed to make the new cut because its oblong orbit
overlaps with Neptune's. It will now be a founding member of the
new club of "dwarf planets." |

Nevermind. Reflection suggests I should delete the statement previously here.
Isn't it amazing how little we still know about our solar system? _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Well, one thing that won't be effected by this is Gustav Holst's classical masterpiece "The Planets Suite." It was debuted in 1918 and it did not include Pluto. (Pluto was discovered in 1930 by some dumbass who couldn't tell an iceball from Uranus. geesh.) |

So what do we tell our Grandkids "... I remember when we had nine planets in our solar system...".
And, how much is this going to cost us in taxes for our educational system... millions upon millions of books neding to be changed... and all our encyclopedia's are now - suddenly outdated... hmmm, "It's a conspiracy I tell ya..."
Toodles

The Astronomers have determined that Pluto is no longer a planet, but now a "dwarf planet", which means that what was formerly the planet pluto, and a number of other "dwarfs" in the solar system should be named: Sleepy, Grumpy, Doc, Sneezy, etc. _________________ Travis

I just couldn't help myself - I had to reply to this one. I'm with you - I mean, if Pluto is "just a dwarf" now.......well, what kind of thing does this say to Minnie? or Mickey? ......or Venus or - Mars???? What's this world coming too??? Although......the fact that I can now use that line "Ahyep - when I was a kid .....used ta have 9 planets....ahyep" Well....that is pretty priceless...hmmm - this might make a good master card commercial??? oh wait - I digress...... LOLOL - see, told ya I couldn't help myself. T _________________ Life is what happens when you're making other plans. |
