I just replaced the stock drives in my 2007 Mac Mini and 2010 Macbook Pro with Solid State drives. For the most part it was extremely simple; the only problem I had was with the Macbook which was running Parallels. Now everything's fine.
The Mini is my daily record machine, running Pro Tools 8.0.5/Mbox2. The Macbook is my office computer, and occasionally gets put into service as a record machine running PT through an Mbox2 Mini.
The verdict? Both drives are very quiet, and much faster. Well worth the low price.

Hear hear!
The drive on my ancient MacBook Pro finally died a few weeks ago (probably because I was tempting fate by bragging about how long it was lasting and how well it was working). I ended up replacing the whole machine and I too am enjoying the super fast and super quiet performance of an SSD drive.
I do worry that there is little chance that I will get 6-odd years of near perfect operation out of this set up like I got out of the old rig, but for now it's all sleek and zoom and oomph and wow!
cheers,

i'm using an SSD to run my OS & final cut pro with the rest of my crap on regular spinny-type drives ... for over a year now, things are going super. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
