I have for sale a Telos 9202 Zephyr “blackface” Layer II and III unit that is in very good condition. FYI, my studio is non-smoking, no-pets. I purchased this in Jan. 2011, and sent it right away to Telos for refurbishment. (If you don’t already know this, Telos is fairly obsessive about repair – in a very good way). So in early 2011, Telos replaced a noisy fan and some LEDs, upgraded the software to V2.72, replaced the B- audio card, and tested it out for 65 hours.
I began having issues with the power going out when I moved the unit, so I sent it back in Dec. 2012. Telos replaced the power supply and also the B- audio card (the sudden powering down caused by the bad PSU must have affected the original audio card). Telos tested it out for a solid week to be certain it was good before shipping it back to me. It worked great.
I recently decided to drop my ISDN service in favor of alternatives such as Source Connect and ipdtl. In my area of the country, ISDN service has become extremely expensive - $400/month! However, quite frankly part of my decision to drop ISDN was also due to the unreliability of the network in general. For example, there were 3 different days when I’d have an ISDN session on the east coast that went without a hitch, but later that same day I had issues connecting with a studio in a different part of the country.
I’ve been working these past several years with my ISDN guru, Dave Immer of Digifon. If you are getting into ISDN for the first time, I HIGHLY recommend him! If you called Dave to ask him about me and my unit, I’m sure he’d tell you that my issues with reliability were most likely NOT problems with my Zephyr, but problems with my local AT&T service (line issues, lack of maintenance) or issues at some point along the chain totally unrelated to my Telos Zephyr.
Nonetheless, there is some element of risk in buying a used ISDN codec. I can assure you that my 9202 works reliably, but I’ll go better than just words. As a member of this forum, I’ll give you a special guarantee. I’ll give you two weeks to put this through the paces to make sure it works for you.
1) IF you can’t get it to work reliably for you AND it seems the problem is your line (and not the Zephyr), I’ll nonetheless accept a return provided YOU pay return shipping (I’d swallow the cost of shipping it to you).
2) IF you can’t get it to work reliably for you AND it seems the problem is this unit, I’ll accept a return AND pay for shipping both ways.
If you go on eBay, there’s one for sale now at $1000. Completed sold actions are all over the map, some were just parts units. One in working condition went for $416 and another for $410 – neither had a return policy, neither had been refurbished by Telos.
Based on that, my offer is to sell you my Telos Zephyr for $475 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states. PayPal preferred, but a check is fine too. I'm happy to send you pictures upon request, or even a scan of my Telos repair order. _________________ Best regards,

That's a great deal. Boy, the prices for these have gone down over the years. The 9202 is a workhorse. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

I'm glad your sale is pending Tom. I too will be removing my blackface telos that is a workhorse from my studio, as my rates are on par with yours. News at 11 when I finally get beyond fed up with our friend, AT&T. I was shooting for April 1st, but it'll be later. _________________ Bobbin Beam

Yeah... but we're keeping it in the family, Mel
... and if I have it, you, effectively, have a spare! _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Just to wrap this up, I'd just like to say that Tom is a diligent & attentive seller. Everything was in perfect condition, is now installed and working just fine...
If he ever post anything else for sale, rest assured that he's a great guy to deal with. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Thanks Mike... but I think I'm good. Tom sent me the guide, and I've got the full 258-page Tolstoy version on pdf.
I have to say that for all the manuals I've had to wade through in my life, the Telos one is quite nicely written. A little bit of humour and the odd wink makes it a reasonable read. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish
