|
|
I worked with two clients last week using the Apollo Twin interface from Universal Audio. I am in love with this thing!
Anyways, here is a sample of 3 different "preamps", that is the base Apollo preamp and the 610a and 610b soft-preamp simulators. I level matched each sample to -20dB LUFS.
Can you tell any appreciable difference between them? I can't!

The API sounds the best to my ears. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |

I didn't use the API in this sample, but I do like using the API channel strip. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

The 2nd one slated "API Vision" is the one I liked best. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |

Bruce, you're right, I goofed. He had originally told me it was a comparison of the 610a to the 610b, and I brain-farted. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I use the API Vision emulation plugin on pretty much everything I record through my Apollo. Love the punchiness - my auditions really cut through now compared to my rather polite sound previously. Probably not suitable for long-form narration
A word of caution - these emulations eat DSP like crazy. I bought a Duo (2 DSP processors), and have crapped out the DSPs using only 2 channels while tracking, both with the API or new Neve 1073 Unison plugins and the new UA 1176AE compressor. _________________ Graeme Spicer

Those all sound great. I too like the API the best. I guess I just don't like the valve-style sound anymore. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
