Mr. and Mrs. and Ms. VO professionals. Noob here. Just getting in the game. Here's my first demo reel...

Sean Reel

I'd love any input you'd care to provide.

Thanks!

If you're looking to enter the high paying world of national and regional commercials you're going to have to take the "radio" out of your voice, i.e. the emphasizing of the buzz in your voice and the deep richness of your reads. That's not the "real", "conversational", "aspirational" sound many producers are looking for these days.

Make no mistake, there are people looking for what you can do right now, but you'll broaden your appeal by softening, humanizing, and warming up your styles.

If you're looking to enter the high paying world of TV Promos and radio and TV Imaging, you're off to a good start. If you're not quite sure what network, TV and radio marketers are looking for then consider hiring a professional promo coach and/or demo maker.

Thanks Bruce...I appreciate the input.

I know what you mean by stripping the "radio" out of my delivery. I think a coach is definitely the way to go.

I liked it. I didn't hear as much 'radio' as I was expecting. Those spots generally call for that type of delivery anyway.

I'd like to hear you read the disclaimer on a prescription pill (Celebrex, etc). That type of copy will usually bring out your calmest, most natural delivery.

You do need to be able to sound like a Voice Over and 5 seconds somewhere in your demo will prove that but the direction you need to head should take you ....

Sometimes I can work and work and work on a script and I hear that radio "schlack" coating every word...it's hard to understand why it vacillates between that and a more natural delivery. But I'm glad to start moving this direction.
