My inbox has had a few Congratulations from my LinkedIn connections. Apparently they were all told that I've been doing this VO thing for 18 years this month. It is true. And it makes me feel old. So off I go to the Senior Center to teach yoga to people twice my age so I can feel young again. It's all about the balance, right?

That feeling of "feeling old" hit me when I was teaching a radio course to a group of young people from Baltic countries.

I made the mistake of saying, "I remember when this Beatles song came out on 1963". A young girl blurted out, "my mother wasn't born yet!" Gasp

Then she corrected herself and said, "no, she was 1 years old".

That hardly gave me any comfort.

Old?

I teach high school chorus. The first milestone I hit were the kids who were born the year I graduated high school.

Then, the kids who were born the year I graduated college.

Now, I 'm getting the kids who were born this century.

It seems funny to me that the kids I first started teaching are in their forties too.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to shoot off a couple of auditions, then go to paintball...

I'll tell you young whippersnappers about "feeling old!" It has nothing to do with how long you've been a voiceoverist or doing whatever it is you do. If you can get up out of a chair without making grunting noises, you don't know what feeling old is like. DAMHIKT. Wink

Mandy, have you told any kids to get off your lawn yet? I think that's when you're officially old.

threadjack

i awoke this morning the victim of a TP'ing. it was minor, barely one roll. a few streamers on the cars - one in a tree.

i found the culprits and chastised them for their shoddy workmanship and lack of preparation. BACK IN MY DAY ... we used cases of TP & it took the homeowner WEEKS to clean up.

kids today.

Oh, Todd, that is good. When I was little I always thought it would be fun to TP. Then I grew into one of those responsible high schoolers. Perhaps it's not too late?!?

Sounds like fun Mandy. May I join you?

I will bring the video camera for posterity (and blackmail).

*That* old? Wow! So I'm curious - coming ashore from the Mayflower, did they have nice ramps or did you have to use makeshift steps of some kind?

Seriously, though, as Fernando told us, it's not how you *feel* - it's how you look!

...c'mon, I'm trying to be helpful, though I guess rehashing a 30-year-old piece of pop culture only makes it worse. Oh, well. Hey, Kojak's on! SQUIRREL!!!

I had a stress test two weeks ago. 9 minutes 29 seconds. My max heart rate hit 171 bpm. No chest pain, but had to stop because of leg fatigue. They said my heart was in great shape. OK... now tell that to the rest of my body.

I still say...growing old aint for sissy's.
