I arrive in the USA and someone from Homeland Security checks me out.
He's not interested in spin, jargon, implication, optimism, smoke and mirrors.
Let's change his second questions about work and see how it works out for you.
"What do you do for a living, Philip?"
"Voice over work"
"What makes you a TOP Voice over?"
Be me and answer the question. He's only interested in facts. If you spin or apply smoke and mirrors he'll assume you have something to hide and you may be put on the next flight home. You need to say something that means something to him. My reply (I know he's busy) takes 4.6 seconds.
Now do the same for you.
The point. If your marketing would not pass the Homeland Security test it isn't fooling the people in our business who can make a difference to your career. |
