So due to the fact that I'm am very new to the industry I'd like all the constructive criticism that I can get. Below are links to my first 2 attempts at commercial demo reel clips. Let me know what you think.

The first one seems to be your style. Work with that one. The second one should be scrapped. The dudebro attempt sounds forced.

What Jeff said.

1st... very easy on the ears, comfortable, relaxed, believable.

2nd... too much forced accent, dictation hard to understand.

Thank you very much for the advice. Were the levels on the music versus the voice ok or do I need to lower the music's volume?

Yes, I'd lower the music volume a bit. The music should always be secondary unless that's what you're selling, i.e. concert commercials.

I agree that the first read style should be in your quiver, although I thought the opening first few words were a bit mush-mouthed. Be relaxed and natural when doing that kind of read, but also be understandable.
