Once I got the construction of my booth completed, and all the wiring inside, it was finally time to start treating the space. Over the course of about an hour, I installed the various pieces of foam that I have, recording a few seconds of audio after each addition. I started by recording a couple of sentences in the totally untreated room, which, as you might expect, sounded like I was in a cave. I was actually amazed at what a difference just the two bass traps (and no other treatment) made.
Here is the audio of that progression (38 seconds, total), followed by a few pictures I snapped as I went along.
Lee's VO Booth Evolution
Untreated booth.
Just the bass traps.
All the foam I had.
I still have four furniture blankets I can hang up, although I'm not sure I'll need to use all four. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Wow! Looking finger lickin' good!
Oh, and sounds delicious with all the foam added. consider taking the traps down about six inches, there was a little reflection of transient bass which needs attention. I do not believe you will need the blankets; unless it gets cold in there.

Lee: is that a Dell laptop you're recording into? Does the fan ever present noise problems?

That is a Dell laptop that serves as my travel gear. I recorded this test with it because I still need to buy a couple of connectors to finish hooking up the output of the booth to my main recording computer on my desk. The fan is pretty quiet (as its lack of presence on this recording attests), but it was a temporary solution. In the future, I will not have a computer in the booth with me. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
