Just curious what the majority of you are using as a soundproofing for your studio doors?? Is a Vinyl Clad Jamb the most effective way to block out all sounds, or is there a cheaper way to accomplish this?? Thanks everyone! |

I use a full length, fake fur pimp coat and pray no one drives down my street. _________________ www.MarleyAudio.com |

i have a 1 3/4" solid oak door w/weather stripping and it works just fine.
however - i have my eye on a 1920's safe door in a ramshackle train depot south of town. i might go all "monk" on this thing.

Good luck getting that thing home.
And if you do, get that awesome door frame with it. _________________ Don Brookshire

oh, i definitely want the frame! between the two we're looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 pounds. the floors of the building are rotted - so i would have to pull the door, frame & part of the wall out with a tractor then get a backhoe to lift it onto the trailer. no plan on how to get it in the house!
still trying to figure out who owns it. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

All "Monk" on this thing..
Hell ya.
I used a fire door, it was a free donation and included the frame, but I built my own frame with a couple layers of added mass.
It works pretty well until the dogs come tear-ass down the stairs. Then I have to pause.

Depending on your situation, a good solid exterior door could do the trick, pre-hung with threshold and gasket. Then go from there. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...
