Wondering if using a Rolls Mic Power II Phantom Power Supply, then into a USB-bus powered interface will give better sound than going from the mic straight into the interface (using its Phantom Power). (?)
Or if the extra cable and device in the chain will create extra noise so that it is not worth it.
OTOH, does the Phantom Power from USB-interfaces create any noise of their own? |

Unless you have a poorly designed or faulty device or cabling that's not correct, phantom power shouldn't be introducing any noise into your signal. As for bus-powered vs. an interface with its own supply, even if you've got a decent bus-powered interface you are at the mercy of whoever manufactured your USB bus - you may not be guaranteed to always get the power your mic wants.
On the gripping hand, introducing additional devices introduces additional points of failure.
