Anyone else here get a GoFundMe plea for donations?
I can't figure out who this is, but he used my personal email as well as my VO-BB email address. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Is this "GoFundMe" site for people with serious needs?... or just cyber savvy panhandlers? _________________ "Bailey"

Crowdfunding sites like GoFundMe, Indiegogo, and kickstarter are a truly awful thing. At least this fellow (and site, I assume) are not pretending to be a startup business needing funding. Those are ALWAYS a lose-lose scenario. Even the incredibly few crowdfunded businesses that are successful never pay out as promised (the Oculus Rift was funded by thousands of people who ponied up a couple million dollars. It was sold this year to Facebook for a couple of BILLION. And all that the initial investors got out of the deal was a steaming pile of nada.)
The panhandling is just kind of sad. But the startup scams are truly infuriating. _________________ Andrew Fogarasi

My response starts with the same first four letters as "GoFundMe" but then it diverges. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I wouldn't paint all the crowdfunding sites bad just because of "appeals" like this. I've participated in some truly good ones for good causes. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |
