Maybe it is the turning leaves. Gear-itis attacked me... AGAIN!
Anyone have experience or comments on the TASCAM UH-7000.
I see it as a potential replacement for the lower end "2-mics-in preamps and digitial conversion in one box" devices. It prices out about 3 times what a PreSonus 22VSL or a Focusrite 2i2 goes for. But only if the pricey box would deliver better sound! |

My initial thought was, TASCAM?? I don't think I'd go with Tascam. But with the level of quality (at least clean and uncolored) of preamps in interfaces and the quality of converters, they might have caught up. The mixer setup with the ability to use the effects live might be cool. You could add a hair of compression and a variable HPF and De-esser if you wanted without having to do it in post.
Haven't tried one, but if I had one I'd do a shootout with the Audient |

One thing to note is that you can NOT bypass the preamps in the Tascam, and you CAN bypass the preamps in the Audient. If you ever get an external Pre and just want to use the Audient as an interface (and not let the pres color the sound) you can do that with the Audient but not the Tascam.
The programable F-keys are also really nice. I use one as a cough button, and I use it during almost every session. I am planning on modding it to add a jack on the side (if it fits) so I can plug in a foot switch to activate that button. |
