Yes, the comments between themselves, on an interweb and in the inbox of my email gave my "First you have to think differently" a resounding thumbs down.
M'lovely colleague and friend, Larissa Gallagher worked hard to ensure perfect surroundings, a wonderful lunch and smooth running from start to finish. For that I will be forever grateful.
I let the team down. I bombed, sucked, failed to deliver, changed nothing for anyone who took time out of their Saturday to attend.
What did I miss? I did not hand over the Magic Pill which must be taken once daily. TAKEN as opposed to left in the bottle. The good news is that it requires no prescription, no Doctor's appointment, no visit to a pharmacy. You make it yourself.
Ingredients -
1 - Talk only to decision makers
2 - Talk only to people who have the work you really want to do
3 - Support your agent
4 - Audition only for work you are able to do standing on your head.
5 - Throw ALL P2P sites in the garbage as soon as you can .. NO EXCUSES
6 - Refuse to compete. The job is yours or it isn't
7 - Website. In 10 seconds you should be seen, heard and contacted
10 - KNOW your numbers. How much you need to earn every year + 15% for marketing. Divide that number by the number of days you want to work. NEVER charge less for a job. ONLY audition for jobs paying a least 3x that number.
11- Do not rely on any element of "Social Media" to help you as everyone else is relying on you to help them. View it as a "chat with colleagues over lunch" and not part of your business strategy.
12 - Thank someone WITHOUT agenda.
13 - Forget "branding" and your "brand", you do not understand it and in any event you are not a brand or a slogan. You are you and that's unique enough for every situation.
When did I last take my own medicine? Friday 7th November 2014.
Coaching, classes, events, seminars and even lunches with Philip Banks DON'T WORK! You have to. Mix all of the above with a healthy dose of real life and you'll win like you've never won before, both of you.
In the interests of transparency. The total cost of the LA lunch was $19472 less the revenue of $1,400 leaving me with a net loss of $18,072. So I lost out BIG time? What do you think? |
