At this point, David Lawrence stopped the guy again and told him, "You've just told us five different ways why you can't do this work. Until you figure out how to convince yourself that you can, you're right. That's what you have to do, first."

And that's exactly where my head is right now, Bob. I've taken a couple classes, sent in an application for Iris (radio for the blind) here in Bangor, started doing some imaging for a friend's internet station and signed up for a big dose of rocket fuel this coming weekend. (grin) I'm at the point where I know I CAN, but it's a matter of HOW I can best make a living at this. Thanks for passing the story along.

I don't think libel is a problem here; my only concern in jumping on that bandwagon is the thought "is someone on some board somewhere saying the same thing about me?"

Plus, when you point a finger, there are usually three pointing back. I'd be wondering the same thing, myself, Dave.

The audience believes actors and DJ all the time. Dick Clark said, “the key to success in sincerity. Once you can fake that, you've got it licked.”

I always thought that was George Burns, but I'll defer to Pat.

Marketing is all about talent and skills. The gimmick is effectively presenting your style (content) with an evocative, meaningful brand (form). It's about combining and progressing your style using the four pillars that support the Temple of Voice Over Business: Marketing, Advertising, Promotion, and Public Relations.

Looks like a bit of devil's advocacy. This is, correct me if I'm wrong, Philip's way of again asking the VO, "What is your USP (Unique Selling Proposition)?" This ties right back into question # 1.

It seems to go back quite a ways to Jean Giraudoux.

He also said "Only the mediocre are always at their best."
