Maybe his keyboard marches to a different beat, but he did a GREAT job of enabling me sometime back. Maybe the two of you just need to find "that golden moment" when magic can happen. |

I do a perfectly good job of enabling myself. As proof, I submit the 12" octa-core monster of an android tablet on which I'm presently typing this reply. Did I need it? Hell, no. Did I buy it anyway?
And I seem to remember enabling Mr Ellis once already this past year over a mic I'm rather fond of. His response? Not so much. Didn't suck, but, not so much.
Turns out, he already had a better mic in his quiver. Those of us who've been doing this for a while usually do.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go have a bowl of roses for breakfast. _________________ Don Brookshire

but i DID flip the mic in question for a $150 profit --- which went into 6 boxes of .45 ACP.
so --- there's that. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Actually, I was speaking of the other Mr Ellis.
So, I guess I'm a bigger enabler than some here would think. _________________ Don Brookshire

A supercardioid mic with crazy-low self-noise and a nickel diaphragm including pad and low-cut. I bought one before any samples came out, because to me this seemed made for VO.
I like it more than the TLM103 and MKH416 I've owned. YMMV!
I would say that it works best with a neutral to bright preamp. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

I think it would work great for you Caroline. It runs a bit dark for some female voices, but your voice is so nice and bright that it would compliment it. It has a nice top end that helps control any potential sibilance. What mic are you currently using? _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Hi Lance, I currently use the SE Electronics SE2200a which is pretty sibilant (or I am) I'm liking the sound of this one the more I read! Shame shipping is over $100 to UK. Still a fab price for what looks to be a lovely mic though! _________________ (otherwise known as Cari, if you squint it looks like Carl) |

To my ears, the CAD sounds warmer and darker on the lower end, on most voices.. the polar opposite of an SE 2200a or similiar AT 2020/2035/4040, which strike me as brighter and clearer. almost approaching fizzy and sizzly _________________ Lee Kanne

Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to the US to buy the damn thing just so I can get it at that price! _________________ (otherwise known as Cari, if you squint it looks like Carl) |
